Volunteer Responders Work Through the Night to Keep Lincolnshire Moving

Volunteer responders from the Lincolnshire Community Assistance Team (L-CAT) worked tirelessly through the night to support emergency services following severe weather across the county.

After unexpected high winds and heavy rainfall swept through Lincolnshire on the evening of Tuesday 24th March 2026, multiple incidents were reported involving fallen trees, blocked roads and hazardous conditions across both rural and major routes.

Responders from the volunteer-led organisation were deployed across the county, assisting colleagues from Lincolnshire Police and Lincolnshire County Council Highways in clearing debris and ensuring roads could reopen as quickly and safely as possible.

Incidents attended included:

A 60ft tree blocking a B road, requiring urgent cutting and removal
A lane closure on the A15 at Navenby due to fallen debris
Multiple reports of trees down in Louth, Grantham, Lincoln, and surrounding areas

Despite challenging overnight conditions, volunteer responders remained on the ground for hours, helping to minimise disruption and keep traffic moving wherever it was safe to do so.
